I'm not a Newbie but am returning after a long absence!
Hi guys,
Been away for a few years on various GSXRs, Ducatis, Aprilias and the like but have finally come home to where I started off, some 10 years ago! Just put a deposit down on this bike:

Am now looking for some cans and a few other trinkets that I had on my old one, but very much looking forward to being back on a Storm!

I remember manual CCTs and re-jetting, not much more than that to be honest. Any thoughts or recommendations gratefully received! I was also planning a Brembo Master Cylinder and SP1 calipers as i recall the brakes being a little weak.macdee wrote:hello and welcome back

Hi mate, remember you too! No real plans as yet but I deliberately got the F-2 to try and avoid the YLOD appearing so frequently! A front end Blade swap is certainly on the cards though!AMCQ46 wrote:welcome back Mellis, I can remember you when you went to the dark side with the GSXR.

Welcome back to the fold. At last somebody just up the road from me

SO WHEN DOES THIS OLD ENOUGH TO KNOW BETTER KICK IN
Re: I'm not a Newbie but am returning after a long absence!
Welcome home Mellis...Reg/Rec although F2 will prob have a finned one already, still worth changing for a Mossfet type.
When you start digging you'll fine the loom is different on the F2 & the ECU & ingniter box now live on the side of the subframe, so more room under the seat for your sanwiches...
Oh & the speedo is crap, the numbers are so small they are hard to see !

welcome back mellis, that's a cheap bike, it's missing it's fairing decals, but they're easy to replace if needs be.
HEY YOU GUYS!!!!!!
Re: I'm not a Newbie but am returning after a long absence!
It's had a respray for definite. I'm not that bothered as it's a lovely job and the rest of the bike, casings etc are mint too. It's clearly led a charmed life!agentpineapple wrote:welcome back mellis, that's a cheap bike, it's missing it's fairing decals, but they're easy to replace if needs be.

Mmmm something not right with that being an F2 as it has early grey engine cases rather than the later goldy coloured cases. Is it an early one registered after 2001? or a bitsa?? Seems quite expensive considering its not standard.

if you do want to replace the firestorms decal on the fairing, david silvers do them, about £20 for the pair iirc.
nothing wrong with that bike wicky, the engine cases didn't change colour until 2004. the black calipers are also correct

Wonder why it had a respray - either it was and done out of embarrassment (i.e teal :-) or has it been in an accident. I'd find out what the original paint code was (on the subframe sticker) and a good look on the hidden side of all the plastics for signs of repair.
