I was at a trackday at knockhill today..first one of the year....
on a brand new extrawide freshly laid circuit...it was wet and drizzling,[nothing new there then] . and i took my m8 phil on his zxr1100 yeah thats right a big naked 1100 muscle bike. aaaaaaaaaaaand .....
he binned it........in fact he was one of six or seven that tasted the new tarmac a good few of em right at the tip in point for duffus...as this was the first time bikes had been on the new surface there is definatly a grip issue at that spot...my m8 phil had passed me on the back straight just before the hairpin. and two other nutters outbraked me. so by the time i reach the bridge on the main straight[ 139 mph ] i see phils bike dissapearing over the dip and phil cartwheeling along the righthand side just before duffus..oh sh1t.... all the following bikes me included. threw out the anchors. and jinked left to avoid the carnage..took 15mins to clear the track. phil was unhurt a few bruises and an adrenalin headache..the bike looked worse than it is. and he got it for sweetie money anyway..apart from that a most excellent morning. oh yeah and halfway through the first session i get a flat...a rather pointy piece of aggregate penetrated my rear tyre .. i knew summat was up when the handling suddenly turned to crap..got wee bob from Mac racing to fit a pair 0f bridgestone BT002s last years compound .£185 fitted [cheers m8] .
just finished scrubbing them in they feel really good and sticky even in the wet my best lap today was 1min 15 secs pretty good for a newbie in the wet.........might go again next weekend....VROOOOOOOOM VROOOOOm
