One obscure movie that is gritty and shocking. The old gun or for the french speakers Le Vieux Fusile. Stars Rommy Schnieder worth a look

I have a wide range of films I like but some of my favoties are : Das Boot ( the german version ) The Duellist ( early Ridley Scott ) and any Ealing Comedy. Told you I have strange tastes and yes I bought a yellow one!

Can't really tell my favourite movie but Requiem for a Dream succeeds to amaze me even after watching multiple times.. As with more movies Darren Aronofsky has made!

Oh wait.. Privates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Hole

Has to be Final Approach , had just got surround sound for the first time and the opening sequence made me crap myself nearly blew out the bloody windows ,a really intelligent and twisting storyline.

Anything with Brendon Gleeson, particularly In Bruge. Anything with Brendon AND Mark Strong - The Guard.

Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, Attack the Block.

Tarantino, Shawshank, Eastwood etc etc.

Hey, if you lived in the middle of nowhere with just French TV you too would have a hell of a DVD collection.
