Drive chain

Post by kev64 »

Ok, so rebuilt the swing arm and everything went back together all freshly
greased and nice and shiny and clean.
Had a few family problems since so aint been able to luck at the
bike at all, all week :x
Did notice that after I cleaned the chain and refitted back on the bike that I had
fitted the chain the opposite way it came off :problem:

Will this be a problem or could it be a good way of even wear
Didn't get chance for a test run because of said problems !!

Wouldn't worry. It''s only a problem if you fit it upside down or inside out or both (mobius loop)...

I wouldn't think it would matter. Did you undo the chain and replace the masterlink or take it off in one piece and put it back on? If you did then really should be swooped back over as the master link will be facing wrong way and could be a mare when time comes to change the chain.
If it aint broke, get your bloody hands off it!

Good point Phoenix

Hopefully the chain has a riveted link rather than a clip link.

Took it off in one piece and its now back on with the riveted
pins now on the inside, so the opposite way round !

I've just been wondering, how on earth have you managed this feat of magic!!? Then I remembered most Storms don't have a braced swingarm... Doh...

If it concerns you, it's not that much work to change it around. Easier than many bikes where you need to remove the swingarm,

Chris.
