New type M.O.T's

Well these new M.O.T's are a bitch !
One guy i know has had his own little business for years, and now with this new M.O.T system he has had to close shop and go and work for someone else doing the tests !
Another guy i know with a small business has given up doing tests because he cant do tests and run his shop at the same time.
Apparently theyhave to be logged on and have a limited time to do the tests and they are monitored ?
Is this right ?

yeh thats right cos they are all computerised now ,just like the car test ,you get a computerised print out now which is your mot ,a lot larger than the old type,i dont no about being monitored ,ill ask my mate who does them,see what he says

Yuk, but sounds a mixed blessing.

I remember doing the MOT's at my mates garage in the UK. mostly C90's doing the knowledge so you could normally MOT them as they rode them into the workshop

buckled rims, and shot bushes. "oh, I wondered why it felt funny'

Over here inBelgium, we've got no MOT's on bikes. When you consider the country is full off fair weather Sunday riders who buy a new bike every year, no big deal. however there are a good few rats about though, all well and good until a wheel falls out I suppose. :/

Not only pressure from above on the MOT's though. The above mentioned garage has been recently forced to move to a bigger shop despite having great sales records, great service and 50 years in the same shop.. Honda want things their way or the dealership goes. bang. Sweet...... So now, popping into my mates shop for a cuppa when I'm in the UK will be like popping into Tesco's for a grasy bacon sarnie.

They call it progress.

The new MOT system is ran by the computer that is linked to the DVLA.

Remember the old tick sheet you used to get if a vehicle failed.

The new MOT has this type of sheet on the computer. The tester has to log in the reg number then start doing the test as per the order the computer is programed to do the test. There is a set time for each task on the computer and therefore the test takes the set 45 minute time scale every time.
An MOT test station can now only do about 7 mots in a day.

MOT test stations used to be able to do an MOT in a quicker time than laid down by the ministry of transport. 2 testers working together on the same car, doing 2 or 3 MOTs in an hour.
A garage could do 15 plus mots in a day. Now the computer controls time they can't do as many MOTs so prices have doubled and small garages have closed or stopped doing them.

The DVLA/Government have brought in the new rules, the new equipment cost thousands of Â£ and it's the MOT station that has to foot the bill, therefore prices go up.

As far as I can see te only benifit to these new MOTs is you can now get your road tax on line.

Plus the police can now tell from your registration number and thier computer if a car/bike is insured taxed and MOTed.
All the info is on the DVLA computer and the police can easily acces it.

Got my Storm mot'd last week, everything OK which was good, well apart from the big jump in the price for the test

I had heard about the new computerised test but it had slipped my mind until I saw the new A4 size mot certificate

The guy who does my MOT has the computer.. but apparently he isn't 'online' yet... so i doubt i'll appear on the police/DVLA/ computer.

Kaz change the air filter and give it a thrashing, then get it tested. If it was that close you won't need a diagnostic test

asked my mate today ,when they log on it seen at the national database at swansea,they monitor how many mots they do during the day and how long it takes them,also what weight and makes of bikes and reg numbers,they also have a team of inforcers who come to your premises and watch with out you knowing to see if you are doing them how you should be doing them,

cos someone he knows was watched over a couple of days and he wasnt doing them ,

how he should and he got his licence suspended

Hey, where are you in Belgium? I'm here too...living in well-known place called Hoegaarden...

We should meet for ride...or drink one day, eh? ;) Since you speak English and my Dutch is well...basic at best I am still struggling a bit here...

BTW - do you know that max. couple of years from now Belgium will have MOT on bikes too, thou only "before sale" MOT just like for cars! That's guaranteed - had a few chats about it over cofee with my Honda dealer who are always "up to speed"....

Well....here comes bad news. Hoegaarden not made in Hoegaarden anymore.
Hated by all Belgians owners of Interbrew corporation decided to move Hoegaarden beer factory to Jupiler, where they already making this piss called Jupiler.

I so hate those managers I can't express it. Hoegaarden was based on local water. It will never ever ever taste same again. And it was world-famous, sub-zero cool white beer - and I tasted a loads of white beers all over Europe, this one was best.
Good news for me is that in local small brewery in beer museum they still going to brew some. And there is pub next to it.

I marched in protest demonstration with all village and visitors of it against moving brewery, but - it's corporate business...they don't give a s..t...
I am going to cry now - and I am not even Belgian! I am going to get myself few of bottles of original now and get stoned.
