Catastrophic rectifier failure!

My common fault rectifier has failed(surprise surprise) and fried the stator instead of the battery.
I have seen a post about 'mosfet' rectifiers...
Can anyone tell me which particular model of 'mosfet' I'm looking for?
And also any advice on a good replacement stator would be appreciated becuase I definitely can not afford to buy 1 from honda at 496 quid.

Oh and btw! for all of you that got involved and advised with my 'kickstand switch issue' posts. U were all correct.. It was the datatool immobiliser causing the cut outs

Also someone on here will be able to tell you what bikes have
compatible ones, you need to do a bit of wiring, crimping etc,
but its not too hard to fit, just not much room,
also theres an alternator for sale on ebay for 37 quid !

I think I could manage the wiring (he says optimistically) but thanx anyway! I've heard that R1/R6 rectifiers do the job, but I've also heard these mosfet rectifiers do the job better. Any other recommendations on bikes that could donate a r/r would b appreciated tho!

Nope - but they are cheaper than OEM Honda. I've had to replace mine after a couple of windings burnt and charging efficiency was touch & go, so I used a second hand one from fleabay. Pretty easy to replace, the trickiest bit was threading the cabling through frame & gubbins to where it connects onto the loom.

You will want to check the main connection points from the charging system to the rest of your bike, for example the connection from the battery -ve terminal to the chassis/engine. If there is not sufficient load on the R/R charging system due to resistance in the rest of the electrical system then the excess power from the R/R will be fed back to the stator which is what burns out the coils. (this can also be a symptom of the voltage regulator section of the R/R failing).
