over the last few years I've heard of a few riders that have removed there return cables, I assume it helps with throttle response, is this the case, what are the benefits?
I already use a 1/6 throttle tube, which I love, as it means less of a twist of the wrist to achieve full throttle, the standard set up always bugged me.
I also assume the return cable is a fail safe in case the throttle cable snaps, but surely this is a extremely rare situation.
so i'm pondering removing the return cable.
can anyway advise me on the pro's and con's?

throttle return cable removal
HEY YOU GUYS!!!!!!
Re: throttle return cable removal
Marty,
return cable is a failsafe incase the throttle butterfly actuating mechanism gets high friction or if the return spring breaks.
on good old slide carbs the vacuums on the slides could crate high friction and the slide would be slow to close, so in those cases a pull return was a good thing, but these days of CV carbs and fuel injection it is just a nanny state safety measure that you will never need.
on the fast action throttle it removes some of the friction loads so makes the throttle lighter and eliminates the need to find a way to slacken the cables further than the std adjusters would allow .
if you look at every good 2 stroke racer they only have a single pull throttle to the carb, so I am happy to remove
