Headlight mounting screws /bolts

Post by StormyRob »

There are four of these obviously to mount the headlight to the centre unit.

Long story short someone gave me my headlight back but only sent one of the bolts and he isn't responding when asked why.

I need three of these and couldn't find them on partzilla. Anyone for whatever reason got a few laying around?

I replaced the crappy screws with stainless hex headed versions from an assorted SS allen bolt pack from fleabay. As if they seize in, the heads are like cheese and they're tricky to hammer or drill with the headlight close by. Whatever you get use a dab of copper grease.

Thanks fellas

I know what you're saying. I saw that bit. I should have been more clear.

I now need four anyway as I banjaxed the one that was left.

The third picture. I broke that bit and the other three are missing.

Any ideas?

Lastly. How does the headlight actually bolt to the centre fairing? That bit in the third pic seems to completely engulf the screw?

That bit in the third pic should be in the headlight mount fairing. Then the screws screw into it. Same kind of design as the screen mount screws and rubbers
If it aint broke, get your bloody hands off it!

Ah. Fair enough mate. That does make sense. The guy took the headlight out of the fairings I sold him and for some reason this one was left in.
Ill have a look at the new fairing :/

Use plastex to fix the inserted thread fingy - if you dig the old one out it will look like this:

Or look for a secondhand centre fairing as it can get messy removing the seized screw which has caused the insert to rotate in the plastic....

The inserts are spinning. :?

This is a spare one I got, not the one on the bike. So will have a shot at it. If it breaks then oh well.
