I am not the only one that hates the oil lines in the storm. Mine were absolutely rotten.
Really bad indeed. I don't have the before picture unfortunately.

I grinded of the really bad bits and without having them rechromed they would still look terrible.

I sanded them down and have since sprayed them. They've dried nicely and I have to say they look a lot better. Black and blue are my bike colours so I am quite happy with them. Hoping the hammerite does its Job and prevents them being too corroded too soon.



Also tidied up the shock linkage a tad. Could do with a bit more work but it was seriously rough!

looking really good rob, only time will tell how they stand up to the elements, tbh I need to do the oil lines on the blue bike. I might look into some chrome finish paint.

It was a fairly simple job so if they need done by the end of the summer I'll not be too fussed. Easy to take off.

Did my oil lines last year in Hammerite Black, looked nice for a while,
but paint started coming off here and there.
so now I just cleaned em up and aim to clean em up every month,
so they don't rot
Not very impressed with hammerite any more as ive used it on a few
bits on my storm, and it runs like crap (not the storm ) !!

I tried cleaning them mate but the corrosion was so deep. I think I'll take then off now and again and hammerite them!

I think I remember a discussion over hiw hammerite has gone down in quality the last few years. Probably right.

The tank on my bike was rusted so badly I could not use it.

Needed painted to so I picked up this tank on eBay for little money.



Even had to drill the lock as there was no key!!!

Anyway left it in a while ago to be repaired and painted. Picked it up today. It was ready last week but I wasn't happy with decal placement or size really. It had been lacquered so had to be redone and this is the result




Had to get the bins in at the end!

I'm very happy with the result. Black decals other deep blue may seem like a strange contrast but it's in keeping with the bike as a whole.

Today I managed to start with a mock rebuild just to see how things look. Still plenty to go obviously but happy with the blue and black contrast. Likely to have wheels (6 spokes) powder coated a bronzy /goldy colour. More on the bronze side.
I have to give great thanks to monkeymatt who has been absolutely fantastic.
This would not be possible without his help and advice. Took an entire day out for me today which is above and beyond.
Also thanks to his lovely wife who kept me fed all day

He also passed on his severe OCD which has meant things are going further than I ever planned.
Thank you matt.

The engine will be a painted version by next week so that should make it look tidier.

Bearings being put in.




Radiators on. As many titanium bolts as can going on including radiator bolts.
Painted black which I was happy with.



Nice new clips on the hoses.
