It's not ! First thought it might be a loose spark plug but it's not .
Going to investigate further tomorrow as I've lost my rag with it now

I am annoyed with myself. I got out to the shop on a Saturday night, after a very full day. I was tired but determined to do an oil change on the VFR. (I think I was too tired.) I had been putting it off and I had a dealership group ride to attend the next day so I wanted it done.

I pulled the fairing, being sure to have as much fun as possible pulling the fairing body clips. I drained the oil, changed the filter but managed to misread the evil sight window and I over filled it. I guess i can't tell the difference between the look of nothing and clean oil. Bear in mind that I have the VFR and the VTR. The VFR holds 3.1 quarts at a change where the VTR holds 3.9. If I am not thinking strait (which I wasn't) I can get confused. I pulled the drain plug again and dropped a quart out. Put the fairing back on and managed to dislodge a well nut. I spent 15 minutes trying to reinstall something never meant to be reinstalled. I made a mess of it and managed to get it back in but just. It fell out as I was tightening the screw but I did manage to get it to make up. I did the chain maintenance and took up a little slack.

I took it out on Sunday for the ride. The ambient temperature gauge showed to be just under freezing when I left the house and the high was 50. It was not a very pleasant day to ride. I rode over 150 miles, with speeds, at times in the triple digits with the bike probably a pint over full. Damn it!!I think I am losing my mind. I guess I had my head planted firmly in my keester.

I did the first real oil change on the Storm about a month ago. I had put maybe 1000 hundred miles on it and I wanted to freshen the oil especially after the rebuild. The magnetic drain plug had a health head of fine metal shaving hair but I expected that since so much trash was in the engine to start with.

Big jim you had a crappy day.

A few people here know what I do for a living and really I should have known this. However I did not!

I would like to get the missus her own bike (ideally a storm!!!) someday. She has been toying with the idea of a little moped to start her off. Decided to look for a cheap one (quite cheap...350 max :p). Even went tonight to look at one tonight. Bit too tatty though!

Anyway was doing a bit of research. I realised the rules changed a little while back but I thought anyone with a provisional licence could ride up to 50cc. (Missus doesnt have car licence) She cannot so thats another 120 quid or so I now have to spend as I promised her.

Appreciate people will likely say its a good thing they have to do a cbt but remember it probably wasnt necessary qhen you had your first bike :)

tbh rob, the cbt will beneficial for your wife, I know it's £120 less to spend on your bike...
but at least you'll have the peace of mind that she knows the basics.

today pita for me was a call from my nan's bank about fraudulent behaviour on her debit card. a couple of long winded calls later(as they will only speak to the card holder and she's 91, deaf and partially sighted) so asking her to read numbers off of her debit card isn't easy for her. let alone remembering password and such like.
anyway we sorted that out, an unauthorised payment of £80 had been made that morning. end result being that her card has now been cancelled and she has to wait for a new card.
then the penny drops with my mum, a couple of day ago, both my mum and my nan bought some cosmetics, I say bought, they were free but you had to pay the £2.50 postage. so both of them did this. so now my mum has spent the last 30mins on the phone to her bank, as the cosmetics firm has also taken £80 from her account.
so it was a scam to get your card details....be aware, I know how certain members of this forum like their make up.... ....
