Don't leave it so long next time. It's good to know what's happening on the other side of the pond.
SO WHEN DOES THIS OLD ENOUGH TO KNOW BETTER KICK IN
Re: No power to guages or lights when I turn the key
Good to know it was just the battery. As others have said, don't leave it so long next time

Good news George!

I'm so unlucky that if there is such a thing as re-incarnation I'll come back as me!

Well done, and good fault finding technique
The quick touch of a wrongly connected battery shouldn't kill your battery, the fuse is there to protect it, and that functioned as intended.
I suspect that your battery discharged itself over the layup period, an Optimate or similar conditioner may get it back so it's usable as a spare.

It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

I am facing the same problem now.
Disconnected my old battery very long ago. Tried to connect a battery from another bike, did not not realised it was wrongly connected. Did not smell anything fried. But the battery still work well on the other one
Now wondering what could be issue?

1st thing to check is teh 30amp main fuse. Its in the red block on the starter relay. Follow the red/+ posiitve cable from the battery to left side of the subframe. You'll need the seat plastics off to access. There should be a spare fuse under the relay in the rubber boot.caen712 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 27, 2023 3:17 am I am facing the same problem now.
