carb balancing

Post by mr dave »

Hi new here ,im about to tackle balancing the carbs for the first time, had the bike for over a year just recently changed the plugs and filters probably should of balanced the carbs then but didnt. Anyway bike has started cutting out at roundabouts and at lights etc, so probably needs balanced. My questions are ive download a factory service manual and there seems to be 3 different types of firestorm ie SW, AR or a IIG type with slightly different idle speeds, so question 1 how do i find my type?
Question 2 refers to, in the service manual it refers to"CARBURETOR VACUUM DIFFERENCE" being 20mm Hg and synchronize to specification. Does this mean the carb settings are to be 20mm Hg apart or am i reading it wrong.

sw ar and iig havent got the reed valves for the pair system.

remove tank and look at rocker cover, if it looks like this then its sw, ar or iig (unless it was modified and fitted with a blanking plate)
