It is a reasonable price, looks like he might have taken off the good bits, such as cans etc, high-ish mileage but reflected in the price, worth a look if you're after one.
Check it for track use, though.

That bike is about 4 miles from me, never seen or heard about it, a few things bother me about it, lack of information is one, and more importantly as far as I'm aware that colour scheme did not exist in that model/year, trust me I do know quite a bit about them, Tony will vouch for that, so as Tony mentioned check for track use

Those look like late model SP2 panels, although i hasten to underline the word 'look'. Mileage is highish but not the end of the world as long as it has good service history. Which it doesn't.

The prices of these things are just going through the roof at the moment, and so will spare parts. Looks clean but do not be fooled! Recent experience on Gumtree suggests that there are a lot of tossers on there, both in terms of buyers and sellers!

It's the same with anything. Easiest to see when looking for cars.

Look on Autotrader and it's £40 odd quid to advertise, the cars are usually genuine and pretty good.

Look on Ebay and it's £10-20 to advertise, some cars are OK, some are shoddy and hiding all sorts of nasties.

Look on Gumtree where it's free to advertise and you'll find all sorts of hidden problems.

If they're a cheapskate skimping on a few quid for advertising, what else are they skimping on?

I get where you are coming from regarding what appears on Gumtree but also it could be a good buy for someone.

There was a rough dented thrown up the road SP1 on the bay last week and it went for £3,250.00, you pays your money and takes your chance.

Regarding prices at the moment they are about 4.5-6.5k for something with some history and with some bikes up to 16 years old, be honest are you going to expect a full and comprehensive service history with a load of previous owners as once they get a few years old most peeps do minor service items themselves, leaving only major (in the guts of the motor) servicing to dealerships.

If you are looking for a really low, sometimes unbelievable mileage bike expect to pay 6.5k and to be honest these bikes are for sale for a long time. Most will be very good but how many folk would buy an absolute minter and use it as it should and not just keep it parked in their livingroom.

A recent SP1 with 95k on it was bought by a lad on the SP forum and as far as I know it runs like a dream.

Yes it's only £20 to advertise on the bay but if it sells you then have to pay a 10% selling fee or I think it's a minimum of £25 over a certain amount so it could end up costing more to sell. Also if you ask for a deposit you then have a 3.8% PayPal fee to pay. Advertising is all about getting it out there to as many people as possible plus you will get the dodgy sellers on any site.

Yes. Especially for £6500. Home servicing means someone will at some point have over-torqued a nut, lost a bolt and got one out of their box of bits, broken something, not put something back together properly, or cocked up in any number of other ways. The reason I know this? Because I do my own servicing and over the years have done all of these things. Unless you are a professional engineer, bike mechanic or fastidious enthusiast who can prove these things have been done properly, you are devaluing the bike.

Just my view of course, others will have a different perspective.

Classified ad is £15.
Just stick your number on there and treat it like Auto trader, no fees, no Paypal

In my opinion anyone advertising something for sale with nothing to hide would give as much information as possible in the ad, if they don't then they've obviously got something to hide, yes I know not everyone is good at written English, that includes myself, but anyone is capable of compiling a list of facts about an item
Just think, If they can't be bothered to do a decent advert, then what else can't they be bothered doing

I always think about the simple fact that there will be a reason why it's being sold.
It might be a new baby on the way, old wrists not coping with the riding position, or an unreliable moneypit....

With cars I want to hear that the owner has died, (preferably not in a high speed motoring accident!) or a new Company car has just taken its place on the drive.
With bikes, I like to hear that it's too fast and frightened the owner, cost them their licence or similar.

That way it's likely to have been loved.

I don't care much for whether it has a full service history form a main dealer, as I know of plenty of main dealers who have cocked up simple things such as not tightening the rear brake caliper bolts (one of mine, 21st Moto in Swanley, hang you head in shame, boys) failing to put the engine in the right place before taking the cct's out when changing to manuals, and in at least one case setting the cam timing 180 degrees out.
Frankly, Id rather taking my chances with someone who has worked on a bike they have to pay for- and whose skin and bones will suffer if they do something wrong or stupid.
