Aldi - Garmin Zumo
Aldi - Garmin Zumo
Just to let anyone that maybe interested know, 3-4 weeks ago Aldi were selling a Garmin Zumo 340LM for £199. This sounds a lot but this was the cheapest by at least 20 quid. Aldi's website says they are no longer available, but I thought I would have a look in my local shop anyway. They still had stock, and to my surprise it was discounted to £159.
Thought I would let you guys know as some might be interested having a motorbike specific sat nav.

I have done some research, and there are differences between these bike sat navs and cars.grumpyfrog wrote:these any good for the bike, or a case required still?
They are waterproof, come with RAM mounts for attaching the cradle to bike, are glove friendly both touching and user interface.
They can be programed with a fancy route using a computer and transferring to sat nav
Like cars you can choose fast route etc, but they have a curvy route option.
When taking unit off cradle, it will remember the last location, and you can find your way back to the bike(for the older gentlemen in the group)
You can program it with service intervals, oil changes etc, also the amount of fuel your bike does and will warn you of needing fuel.
(For guys how plan our route)You can go out for a ride, the sat nav will record the route so you can review and save it for another time.
there are other things it does, like customisable screen layout by choosing the information you want shown on the screen.
I will show you on Friday Grumpy.

Presume it can only give you info that it has downloaded via a computer? Looks like you can't fit a sim card?

yeah, there is a memory card slot.KermitLeFrog wrote:Presume it can only give you info that it has downloaded via a computer? Looks like you can't fit a sim card?
you an add an aerial that will access traffic information through radio RDS system, but needs to be powered, so I would probably link my phone's internet via wifi.

I have the model up the 360lm and it cost me 300 quid so159 is a real bargain , the features are excellent and the Garmin plan routes quickly and so far precisely , the cradle and ram mount are superb , pair up with a cheap Bluetooth helmet module and it navigates plays music and make/receive calls via your phone , spiffing.
