I was going to try the curvy route to Devon this year, the fastest route to Yorkshire was 4.5hrs, the curvy route was just shy of 8hrs.MacV2 wrote:Got there last year with me trusty notes scrawled on a bit of paper...& I still suffer nightmares of following you & your blody prat nav on the way back from Wales via bloody Birmingham !bazza696 wrote:you're want me to lead on the Devon run thou....
So I can't imagine how long it would be to Devon.

Must be going Mad. Maybe I just read the instructions and thought I had the "Curvey" setting. Anyway, I can't find it now but Bazza is right. If you select your destination, choose routes and then at the top of the box, where it calculates the route, you can use the < & > keys to change the route type (new route is now shown in yellow).Pete.L wrote:I did the update. It didn't take the full two hours but it was a good 45 minutes at least.
I didn't check to see if it had twisty setting before I updated though so I'm not much help but it has it now. Is it the 340LM model?
Mine dropped another £20 when I got it to the till.
Ian, same software version as you 4.10 and the firmware is 6.17.10

Re: Aldi - Garmin Zumo
I'm not fully convinced on this bit of kit. Plus, Basecamp is an abortion. However, I've bought another ram mount so it now sits inside the Storm steering head and I have the original u bracket mount to fit on the KTM bars. Waterproof connectors and a 12v to 5v converter are in the post. I intend to break the cable to the mounting bracket and put an alternative 5v supply on the KTM. It will then be transferrable between bikes. Pics will come when I have all the bits.

It seems to be a glitch in the software, there has been reports that when you update the maps you loose the curvy route cause I have just updated mine and lost curvy route option.Pete.L wrote:Must be going Mad. They say on the net that you have to manually reset the firmware, but they don't tell you how to do that.
With regards to basecamp they say its crap, they recommend using TYRE that can be used for both Garmin and Tomtom. I have used it and seems very easy to use, but not yet loaded a route on the Zumo to try out, cause its bloody raining.

Re: Aldi - Garmin Zumo
I've not loaded any routes onto it yet but I have had the chance to go on a few trips and use it.
Fortunately it fits the holder and power socket from my last Garmin so I can use it in the car as well.
It took me up to cheshire last week and then navigated me all around Warrington with out getting lost. I liked the lane control function and it was pretty quick to adjust itself if I decided to go off on another route. I think it will be fine, most the time I just need to know where the nearest petrol station is or a list of local hotels for a room for the night. It does both of those just great

I cut the cable to mine and put a waterproof AMP connector in line so I can remove the mounting bracket from the bike when I am not using itKermitLeFrog wrote: I intend to break the cable to the mounting bracket and put an alternative 5v supply on the KTM. Re: Aldi - Garmin Zumo
Basically everyone has a zumo, so if the route is made up for the Devon and welsh run, we can all upload it and have a copy of it, so no one will get lost.

Re: Aldi - Garmin Zumo
Al's just shared a route with me. "North Yorkshire". I've downloaded it as a kml file. "Tyre" will not import it into the Zumo. Managed to do it in "Basecamp" though. Exactly how would be impossible to describe.
