clutch fluid question

Today I noticed that my clutch fluid was a bit murky and that the clutch action wasn't very smooth. so I decided to bleed the clutch until the old fluid was replaced with new fluid, fairly easy job.
here's my question. with the top removed from the fluid reservoir and the fluid at the correct level. when I press the lever into the bar. some of the fluid shoots up and out of the reservoir. the bleed nipple is closed and the banjo bolts are tight.
does the fluid squirting up from the reservoir mean there is air trapped in the system?
during the bleeding process i'd opened and closed the banjo on the clutch m/c several times to eliminate air from the m/c. and i'd used the bleed nipple on the clutch slave cylinder.
is the fluid squirting out of the reservoir normal or not, I can't remember it happening before.
I will cable tie the lever over night and test the clutch in the morning.
any advise is welcomed.....

That's normal ,well mine does it too and it's never gave me any problems

Mine did it as well, which I wasn't expecting and splashed my speedo plastic, not a good look. Always cover the clocks when changing brake or clutch fluid. Oh and never put the fluid bottle on the fuel tank

went for a test ride to see a friend in Essex, bugger me the clutch was awful, lever was rock hard. clutch worked but wasn't smooth, obviously something wasn't correct.
when I got to my mates, I bled the clutch some more and it worked a treat. I also removed the clutch lever and wiped off some of the excess grease, as my friend pointed out the lever was bent to buggery, which it was. but until I can get a replacement, it'll have to do. tbh the clutch worked perfectly on the way home, but feck me car drivers are getting lazy, the amount of cars that just sat in the outside lane and indicated right. rather than pull into the left lane, lazy feckers.
