cooling
cooling
Little problem, the cooling fan refused to kick in, on checking the water had been dumped into the expansion tank and not switching thermal, ie right hand rad was empty, syphoned from ex tank to rad and all ok, then it done it again. No oil in water and no water in oil and not leaking so could it be something as simple as rad cap or do I have to look further.

Re: cooling
could be a number of things, temp sender not working, fan packed in or jammed, fuse blown, air trapped in system.
HEY YOU GUYS!!!!!!
Re: cooling
If the cooling system is chucking the coolant out through the expansion tank overflow, then the cap would be the most likely culprit. If it doesn't hold the required pressure, the coolant will boil at 107C instead of 130C, and the steam generated blows the liquid out of the radiator system.

Re: cooling
Done it again, no loss of coolant but not sucking back when engine cools, so rad cap on order.
Re: cooling
Seems what was happening is pressure seal ok 1.1 bar, the return valve (little brass poppet) working ok,( rubber washer inside cap shot, allowing air into system, new rad cap (1.3 bar) Haynes bible says 1.1 to 1.4. and all is fine.
