Re: Pneumonia, cancer in the family, new job and now single!
Hey everyone, sorry I haven't been around much. Things have been pretty hectic what with separating from the missus, moving out and all.
Anyway, I know many of you were really supportive when my brother died back in 2014 and I really appreciated it. I did Ride London 2 months before he died . It has taken me 2 years to come to terms with losing him and this year I dedicated Ride London to him.
All I can say is wow! What a day that was. I had two targets, I managed achieve both. To ride 60 miles non-stop and I managed to smash my goal of 5:45 moving time. I did it in 5:24 I did the whole ride, including a pee stop in 5h 43m
I know I have done this ride before, and you probably think “It’s just another ride” or “I have already sponsored him for this last year", but it wasn’t easy.
It was my brother Steve that pushed me around without a doubt. There were several times when I thought I couldn’t push on any more. I thought about Steve and his battle with cancer. I told myself to stop it and keep pushing on. I remember mile 86 the most. I had cramp in my left leg. I couldn’t push through it. I stopped, took on lots of electrolyte drink, rubbed and stretched it. I managed to get going and tried to compensate by pushing hard on my right leg. Ouch! I got cramp there too. I stopped again, repeated the above. I was sat there, just under 14 miles from the finish thinking I was not going to finish.
Steve had Oesophageal Cancer. It was very painful, especially towards the end. He couldn’t eat, couldn’t drink and basically wasted away. I was thinking about this whilst sat moaning about how I might not complete this ride. I was thinking about the pain he went through. I told myself to get back on the bike and ride as hard as possible, because in the end, I’ll be fine tomorrow!
So if you haven’t sponsored me, I am hoping the above my help you to decide to. Curing cancer is too late for Steve, but they are making great progress and finding new medicines to increase cancer survival rates. You can be part of this. So please sponsor me as little or as much as you can afford. Thanks.

Done Geo - good work fella. Hope things are improving day on day.
I'm so unlucky that if there is such a thing as re-incarnation I'll come back as me!

Things are great apart from having to pay two rents (to keep the kids in their home), I forgot what it's like to live on your own. Just need to find a nice woman to play with
