Diagnose this please doctor..

Post by AndyEames »

Hi guys. I was wondering if you can help me with an intermittent problem i have with my storm. When its raining it seems to just start cutting out, seems like its only running on one cylinder but both seemed to be firing. It misfires like a mother and generally misbehaves.

The only thing is last time it happened it cut out, locked up and highsided me down a dual carriageway. Which was nice. So i cant really begin testing it too much. Iv started rebuilding it so i just need somewhere to start looking. Many thanks in advance.

Andy.

It's not a drain plug, it a drainage hole on the front cylinder for the spark plug, see link:-

No, these are both closed systems and so water can't get n.
It's just sparks that can be affected.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

Good stuff thanks guys. Ill do that and let you know the outcome. Whilst im here have you guys got any tips for taking the swinging arm out as the crash broke my rearset (brake lever side) so not really sure how to secure the bike whilst i take it out. Got nothing to hang it from in my garage.

If you have a spare axle or swingarm bolt. They are both the same diameter but one is shorter than the other very slightly (cant remember which, Swingarm bolt a tad longer I think), knock that through pushing the bolt out and keeping the swingarm in place and do what you have to do. Then knock the bolt back through the other way pushing the bolt back in and other one back out. Don't forget to put the right hand side rearset through the bolt before knocking it back through  You can do all this while on the sidestand if you wish.
