clocks not keeping trip odo or time memory

Post by hmmmnz »

hi guys,
ive just purchased a new (to me, obviously) 2001 vtr

Image

any way it runs pretty well
but when i turn the bike off
and turn it back on the trip counter has reset itself to 0 and the clock is back to 0:00
i checked and replaced the dash fuse under the seat, but it was fine, and still has the same issue.

is it just a matter of checking the plug at the clocks and making sure im getting voltage at the red/black wire,
or do these have a back up battery or some other nonsensical thing

cheers

No backup battery, so check earths at the back of the clocks.
Also main earth strap from battery to frame.

And welcome!
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

When the battery on my VFR800 was getting tired, the clock would reset when the ignition was switched on. With a new battery, this never happens. You may just need a new battery, but clean and tighten the connectors first.

It's a brand new lithium battery that I've fitted a couple of days ago.

I'll check the earth's and what not over the weekend.
I'll let ya know if I find anything

Cheers guys
