did a 60 mile trip on the weekend.. mostly motorway... pulled over when i came off the motorway and took a leak.. got back on and it was misfiring like mad, refused to fire on both and stunk of petrol.. i carried on my way and it seemed fine over 5000rpm, parked up spent the day doing my thing, got back on and it was fine...
temperature gauge was at 1/4 barely went over it...
its done this a few times before but usually only for about 5 minutes then clears but this time was 30 minutes+ of running rough.
then last night i was on a private road doing an indicated 140 for about a mile when it suddenly just stopped power.. i felt the whole bike slow but revs stayed up, almost as if the clutch had been engaged, or the chain had come off, so i came off the throttle and clutched in case my chain had snapped, slowed to a sensible speed and off the clutch it was fine again.....

Re: Strange running issue.. loss of power at speed
Just had the exactly the same issue.
After a mega thrash. Misfire but clears above 5000rpm....
After mega fafing, it was
plugs.
Change them first before anything else

possibility the diaphragm has split in the fuel petcock.
HEY YOU GUYS!!!!!!
Re: Strange running issue.. loss of power at speed
Good shout Marty especially with the smell of fuel as well. Longshot but a simple check. Make sure a battery terminal hasn't worked loose. I have had this happen where the bike suddenly dies. It doesn't explain the smell of fuel though.
