Stage 1 cam swap?

Post by mik_str »

In the remote chance that someone has some Yoshimura Stage 1 cams on hand, I would be potentially interested in swapping a set of Moriwaki Stage 1 intake cams for a set of Yoshi cams (either intake or exhaust since they both have the same profile).

A long shot I know....

sure, rub it in, lol

turns out I perhaps should have kept the good ones...

My reason for looking for them is that they essentially the same duration as what I am running now (Mori Stage 1 exh. cams in intake position) but have 0.6mm more lift; anyhow, if it doesn't work out it's no big deal, bike is running awesome now...

perseverence and a touch of luck (and some "play money" from various freelance writing contracts; allows me to feed my OCMD, lol).

as for leaving it alone, it would likely be a wise decision, but my bike didn`t evolve this far from playing it safe :biggrin ..... besides, based on the (very favourable) results from my current set-up (ie. Mori Stage 1 exh (249 deg duration and 10.1mm lift) in the intake position), I truly believe that the Mori cams (with 250 degrees duration and 10.7mm lift, ie. 1 degree more duration and 0.6mm more lift) will be icing on the cake, allowing me to keep the wonderfully wide and torquey powerband I have now (ie. same duration) but the extra lift will improve airflow into the engine (allowing me to further optimise the results from my airbox mods), improving power and response yet again. I plan to do the swap next valve adjustment (since cams need to come out anyhow)....

I was just thinking about all the aggro you had getting the work done on the carbs, you might just want to ride the bike a bit before doing anything more just yet, of course I didn't expect that to happen
Changing over the cams at the valve clearance check/adjust time sounds like a good time to swap cams :D
