I need the actual dimensions especially where they bolt up to the frame and the with.
I have the golden ticket to shoehorn in a SP2 engine if it will fit with minor massaging.
Looking for engine sizes of the SP2 and F
Re: Looking for engine sizes of the SP2 and F
I think you might be at a loss as to where to bolt the swinging arm on........
Two bikes, still only four cylinders!

Re: Looking for engine sizes of the SP2 and F
Well the swap involves adding a SP engine and associated FI gubbins etc, and swing arm onto a Storm - then might as well swap the frame over (knowing the SP engine will fit that without a problem) and front end and front & rear wheels. Then why stop there, swap on the tank, subframes, body work and clocks to give the VTR racier looks to match...
Though quite what the Japanese equivalent of the DVLA would make of the change of no. plate...

Not worth it.
Just buy a 2.

Why dont you guys read. Not for nothing but smart ass answers with no measurements is why I didn't post this in another forum. It really pisses me off.
I mean if I dont get an answer I will happily buy an engine. I doubt that the engine will give me too much headache.
It wont be that hard to fab up a mount for the swinger

Seriously - Why don't you just email this RC51 engine seller while they've got engines to hand to measure it up.

Apologies for any offence caused , good luck with your search for information

Re: Looking for engine sizes of the SP2 and F
Dont worry about it too much. Some of the smart ass answers made me look at the sp2 frame again and realize the swing arm mounts on the frame. I didnt know as the sp2 arm conversion is so popular. I might keep the storm as is and build a trellis frame as a guy with a tlr engine had great results with weight by doing that. I will buy an sp2 engine as a backup motor soon, as listed above they can be had for cheap. I am not keen on trusting aluminum block castings So the only way to mount the swinger would be some laser cut plates. I am not looking to invest six months of time just for an engine swap.
The whole reason I bought the F is because I had not ridden in years and I am still new to riding but I have gotten to the point where I push the bike past its limit on many occasions. I think the sp2 is a great bike but leaves something to be desired. They cost too much for what they are. I like the riding position of mt storm and the way it handles trails. I wanted to keep my favorite aspects of the bike and I gotta say the sp2 does not have that late 90s bike look I like. Registration here also costs about 10000 as bike stores wont sell unless they paper it up. The bike I want I dont have the cash for.I want an rc213 v!!!
If you all have not noticed I like my bikes with V engines. except the blackbird.
My plans for the VTR are as follows:
finish the carbon tail and subframe. It is a foam brick at the moment.
Make a carbon titanium or aluminum front subframe. No welder or I would have an aluminum one.
Take the tank off and do a glass buck for a carbonfiber tank.
Free up rotating mass for around 1000 total. IE wheel upgrade Been looking into late model honda rims latley. Any light rear disc. and a steel over aluminum sprocket.
Replace the front fork set.
Replace all lights with lighter ones. good chance in being dual projectors in a custom faring.
Attack the loom.
Relocate a light battery possibly in front of the starter.
So I am on a mad science binge with the bike. I got this bike for a steal and plan on keeping it at least for when the wifey can handle it. Shes getting an nsr this spring so she can learn.

Re: Looking for engine sizes of the SP2 and F
I would leave main frame as it is, not heavy and working great.
My POV, If I would get blank firestorm again, I would do following,
- lower the heads and retime valves to increase compression slightly (around 10 or 10.5)
- dynojet, k&n, and good cans like yoshimura or leovince
- lighter flywheel
- fit new billet lower triple and upgrade cartridges in oem forks
- fully adjustable clip ons
- aftermarket rear shock with adjustable height
- calipers and mc from 954 or sp2
- 16/43 gears, 520 did erv3 chain, alu sprocket
- lightweight lifepo4 battery

Re: Looking for engine sizes of the SP2 and F
I am leaving the frame as stated above.
I will buy an sp2 engine and at that point build a new bike with trellis frame. Do a crazy mad track bike.
I will be going lipo for battery.
will be doing flywheel.
I may be looking into a 1000rr swinger as one came up with rim chain sprocket exct. But if I find a reason not to I can sell the swinger.
1000rr forks are a must. When ever I have the dough.
My main gripe is injection but I am conferring with a member of the superhawk forum for info on it. I dunno if he used verado or tlr bits or what. He said he made a turbocharged bike. Theres no reason to doubt him as he has a heavily modified storm for his daily ride.
