ROYAL FECKING MAIL the utter flowers...
last month I cocked up, I left my passport in the glove box of a friends car, it gets worse, the friend was driving back to the Uk from Spain.
not the end of the world, my friend went to his local post office and paid £10 for a tracked overseas 48hr delivery.
all sounds ok so far.
I did take a small gamble and booked a return flight to the Uk, but the flights were 8 days after the passport had been posted from the uk.
well it's now 3 weeks, and there's no sign of a passport, I had to for go my flights which cost me £80.
my friend contacted the royal mail, and this was their reply.
the parcel is only tracked at the Uk end, once it's handed over to Spain they can't track it, and it can take up to 2 weeks at the Spanish end.
FOR wombles SAKE, why offer a tracked 48hr service then. it's un wombles believable
oh it gets worse
in the next few days I will have to declare the passport lost/stolen and I will have to apply for a new one at the cost of another £100, and that one will still have to be posted to Spain ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!
and they state it will take 6 weeks to supply the new passport and that's if everything runs smoothly
Moral of the story being, don't leave your passport in a friends car, but if you do, don't use royal mail, it would be cheaper to pay for a friends return flights and have them bring the bloody passport back in person FFS!!!

It would be cheaper to apply for asylum, and you'll get a council flat, too.

Just tell them your name is Abu torideinaditch, and that you're fleeing persecution from the basque-wearing separatists.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

That would have to be an oversize basque with tassels  Marty is going to be an Immigrant. I would have though it would be obvious that tracking can only take place while it's in Royal mails hands. Once in the Spanish postal service there's no chance. Thinking about it DHL would have been better or even an International courier service. So does this mean that there will be two Marty's in the world now. One legit and one fraudulent impersonator that goes by the name of Kev

Takes time to travel the tracks by donkey, perhaps waylaid by partisans in the mountainous region stage of the journey?

OR, get a grip of yourself, your not 12 and be organised and keep your passport in a safe place. A glove box FFS. you need somebody regimented to make sure you stay in line. I bet you live in London and still don't know the Parking restrictions for motorbikes ( Well do you?)

i am a tad Anal ( not not gay or even close !) about keys, passports, money, wallets etc. Things that can make your life crap.if you lose them I have 2 places for all the above they are either on my person or in 1 place at home. Just an organised old fart.

tbh i'm normally very good with my passport, as in the last 10yrs if racked up over 200 flights, I honestly thought i'd put my passport with my other documents that I keep on me whilst riding my bike.
the only reason it was in the glove box, was because we'd driven over to spain and all our passports had been kept in the glove box to make it easy getting through security at the ports...
and I still have no idea about parking restrictions in london
even tho I managed to blag my way out of that ticket, which still surprises me today.... :eek2 :eek2 :eek2

Stripped the front end off the bike this afternoon to fit some new fork springs only to find out the nice little spring compressor tool I had made was too large to fit the inner fork tube.
Bah! Back to the drawing board.
