Laptop I3 2730 To I7 2620

both have the same socket, voltage, bus speed, and sandy bridge arcitecture.
I have a dell insprion 35....
I could go to an I5 but that was the best at the time.
I7 2620 has a much faster rate without overclocking.
I want tp run an emulator and it tuns on my core 2 asus with ati radeon card just fine. But I had a brain storm. external gfx card ati 750 double the ram 8gb. and a 60$ cpu should get me running pcsx2 smoothly.
My laptop stays put. 8gb ram is in. ddr3. power supply is in the drawer. If I cant buy the I7 ill still do the card an run a ethernet cable.
Will it work or should it work???
only asking about the processor swap.
