For a second-hand shock budget approx £100 —£200 for respringing for your weight and servicing.

Theres a brand new hagon going for £230 do you think yss may be a better bet or another type? There's too much to choose between for someone like me with no idea.

Just about anything is better than the standard budget shock. When buying tell them your weight togged up, riding style, do trackdays and if you carry pillions & luggage. etc.

Hagon shock for the storm are normally nearer £300 new (£400+ adjustable remote) so if you can get one for 230 just check that the spring is appropriate for your weight.

YSS = again £300 — 400ish.

if you can buy a decent used one go for that and get it refurbed. I bought a WP with remote for £140 then paid £120 for a refurb. Total cost was £260 and totally transformed the Suspension. I am thinking of changing mine on the CBF .

Most people change exhausts, brakes, Bhp etc but changing the suspension makes a world of difference. Better cornering, ride, less harsh on the brakes etc etc.

Even just changing the spring is worthwhile , just fitted Hyperpro to mine , much better than very hard std spring.

I've got an Ohlins shock with remote on mine.It was already on the bike when i bought it,so i can't compare it with anything else as this is my first vtr.But it seems good to me.

there are a fair few aftermarket shocks out there, keep an eye on ebay.

IMHO for road use, if you don't carry a pillion passenger then you don't really need a remote preload adjuster,
