Anyone installed and used a Denali Soundbomb Mini?
Supposed to be plug and play but I've read a few reviews stating that it does draw quite a bit of current, I'd be interested to hear if anyone had any experience wit using on on the VTR.

Re: Denali Soundbomb Mini
Hello JNB.
I've not used the Denali mini horn, but do know someone who has one fitted to their bike (not a VTR). It is indeed a ''plug n play'' horn (you might have a choice of spade terminals to connect it, as Denali spades may have a choice of thin or wide terminals. It's a fair bit bigger than the original wee Honda one between the fork stanchions, so I can't say if the Denali will fit between?
There should be no need to run another fuse in between, as fuses are already in the system, and should be able to cope with the extra load of the new horn.
As for power drain: anything electrical that is run when the bike is switched off will drain power. Testing the horn after fitting, (giving a couple of wee toots or a 1 second blip will not kill the battery, but will be sufficient to hear the difference at stand-still). Once the bike is fired up, take it out on the road so the bike is charging fully, and then you can test the horn fully. Remember the sound is in front of you, and with a helmet may not sound as loud as on your driveway!
Yes, lights may dim a bit on any bike when the horn is pressed, but the horn is rarely used, and at worst case (car pulls out on you) you should only sound it for a short time, (2 seconds is a long time, but adequate) (longer blasts serve no purpose). If it does drain the battery, or your lights all go properly dim, then the fault may lay with the battery itself (ability to hold a charge), or the regulator/rectifier not helping to supply the charge back up again, as it may be on the way out.
For fitting aftermarket electrical accessories, you need to have a good battery and have a good reggy/rectifier (check you have a finned version of the regualtor/rectifier (R/R), and not the original flat sealed R/R. (the R/R is located behind the right side rear side panel. Seat off and rear plastic tail unit off to get to it). The original fitted R/Rs are well known to fail, and that in-turn knackers your battery.
Many people then upgrade the R/R for a finned one, but still have problems, as the battery is still knackered. (new R/R pumps good power again, but into a battery that no longer holds a charge, due to the original fecked R/R). Hopefully, if caught in time, the battery can be saved by using an Optimate charging system that can restore the damaged cells. If not, then it's a new battery to go along with the new R/R!
Keep us posted if you decide to fit the Denali mini bomb, remember to take a photo of what it looks like fitted to the VTR! (and if it fits nice in the original space). This helps others who want to upgrade the horn, but also not sure.
Hopefully, someone else can come in and give a report if they've fitted an aftermarket mega Db horn. Surely some Storm owners are not using the ''fly fart'' original honda horn?

Thanks for the comprehensive reply.
I'll get it fitted and post pics of the process and result.
I'll check the reg too ASAP!

Re: Denali Soundbomb Mini
I bought and fitted a similar one (fron Nuppy Normans) to my old Versys with no issues using the standard spade connectors.
If you were going for anything larger I would recommend fitting an intermediate relay to switch the horn and power the horn directly from the battery through a fuse.
