I now own a (complete) Firestorm

Post by bigr250 »

A 5am start and a 240 mile drive to pick it up and I'm the owner of my soon to be track day VTR1000.Image

That is after strapping down for the return journey, it was raining when I got back to Liverpool so I got it inside before it really started chucking it down.

Photobucket seems to be playing up & after a long day patients is wearing thin.

Looks can be deceiving Lloydie, it's not bad for a tired old girl but its all there and it came with the standard clip ons so the raisers, bars & rack can go on eBay. It's done 55,000 miles but has manual CCT's and has just had the valve clearances done. I have another engine that's done 35,000 and (subject to this engine lasting) I'm going to rebuild it top to bottom in the Autumn and sort the chassis out through the winter ready for this time next year.

Unfortunately he's cut the fairings to clear the bars so bodywork will also have to be acquired between now & then.

This was before the previous owner fitted the handlebars and cut the fairing down.

I've just started recommissioning a Yamaha FZR1000 Exup so won't be doing too much to the VTR till that's close to completion, then I can decide which of them to go to the Manx GP on!!!

Thanks fabiostar, it came with some useful stuff to, a freshly powder coated front wheel with new bearings and seals, standard silencers, a genuine Honda Workshop manual & a few other nick-nacks.

Tank's wing decals reminds me of Seb's from a few years back!

It may be that your whole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

My thoughts as well... Can't be that many tanks where the painter didn't understand what the repsol bike should look like

I live in Lydiate but (at the moment) don't ride on the road, the firestorm is tested so I am thinking of looking for some insurance quotes with a view to maybe putting it on the road as well as the track.

Using mine for track days at the moment but will be getting it on the road for op storm meets. Let me know if you get on the road would be good to meet up. Any idea what's happening with the piper after fire?

It looks almost ready to open, new thatched roof now on and lights on inside of an evening. I recon a few weeks at most before they're back in business.
