Clutch not working

Hi all can anyone help. this weekend I got round to putting new chain and sprockets on the VTR. Removed the front chain guard and fitted the front sprocket then replaced guard didn't touch anything on the clutch except the clutch lifter rod came out a short way with the clutch cylinder until I could get my hand in to release it. when everything was done and I went to start the bike I noticed the clutch was very soft and wasn't working. I removed the chain cover bolts and tried the clutch and it did seem to pull it away but not by much. The clutch still didn't work , I tried bleeding it in case I had got an air trap in it but to no avail. A mate says sometimes there is a bearing in the clutch case which effectively makes the lifter bar bout 5mm longer which would seem right but there's no bearing on any diagrams I have. Any ideas anyone please.

You still have air in there .
Get a large syringe and loosen the banjo on the master cylinder back fill it via the nipple on the slave cylinder .

When air has got in the clutch side they can take a long time to bleed through. Just keep going, and eventually (20-30 minutes) it'll start to firm up.

Yep as Tony said, I had the same problem a couple of month ago, and with the advise of some of the lads on her I got it sorted, just keep bleeding, It can take a while and it can feel like you're getting nowhere, but just keep going, you'll get there in the end

As the others have said there will be air in the system.

Next time take the clutch lever off before you start,
