No chickening out at all - in fact, personally, it's a very wise move. I would never put Maxis on any of my bikes. Ok, they're cheap and would id3ealy suit a suit a rider who's not into performance and handling, and is more concerned with a tight budget*.redpig wrote:ive chickened out and gone for roadsmarts instead.
*Not to be confused with a bird that can't sh1t properly after eating seads all day. That's a tight budgie.
I've never tried the Dunlop Roadsmarts, but have read some good reviews on them. The Maxis on the other hand?, well, as you are aware, there are WAY to many folk on all sorts of bikes, stating they are crap tyres in the wet, and pretty skippy on corners. Thats just put me off 'em straight away. I wouldn't entertain a pair of them, even if the company said I could have a free set for me bike.
I'll stick to replacing what I already have on my VTR, and that's Bridgestone Battlax T30 Evos.
If they are good enough for Valentiono Rossi to endorse AND Ron Haslam, then, they are good enuff for me!!
I'm on me 3rd set (having had Road Pilots fitted before that), and are the best tyres I've ridden on...

Your bike is looking good Fabio

From one flat handlebar converter to another

I'm am considering getting some longer throttle cables I have seen online. I'll then re-route them back behind the right-hand fork-leg,
Chris.
Re: Thread contains a yellow storm
Chris,
I have the same problem with the cable rub after flat bar conversion.
It isn't eliminated, but it is far better with the return cable removed, and the action is much lighter. so I would suggest you try that first before going for longer cables

Thanks Al for your input, much appreciated. I was intending to ask you as well, you've saved me the jobAMCQ46 wrote:Chris,

I'll give that a try first. I'm just a bit reluctant to remove the return cable knowing what it feels like to have a throttle stick open at speed.
I think the problem is to do with the fork leg pushing against the cables when you turn bars to the right now that they are no longer behind the fork leg, that and the brake hoses putting pressure on them too. I'm sure I'll sort something out,
Chris.
Re: Thread contains a yellow storm
I have indeed only the one cable (standard length). iv had no problems with it rubbing the fairing that iv noticed. tho i run mine behind the fork not round the front of it.

Re: Thread contains a yellow storm
I'm guessing that will be down to your Renthals being higher than my Ultra-low bars taking up some of the slack, that hadn't occurred to me.fabiostar wrote:I have indeed only the one cable (standard length). iv had no problems with it rubbing the fairing that iv noticed. tho i run mine behind the fork not round the front of it.

i had a lower set of bars before the ones i have and had no problems with the cable.sirch345 wrote:I'm guessing that will be down to your Renthals being higher than my Ultra-low bars taking up some of the slack, that hadn't occurred to me.fabiostar wrote:I have indeed only the one cable (standard length). iv had no problems with it rubbing the fairing that iv noticed. tho i run mine behind the fork not round the front of it.

Re: Thread contains a yellow storm
Interesting, that's blown my theory out of the water then, although to be fair it's not really a big problem, the throttle still works as it shouldfabiostar wrote:i had a lower set of bars before the ones i have and had no problems with the cable.sirch345 wrote:I'm guessing that will be down to your Renthals being higher than my Ultra-low bars taking up some of the slack, that hadn't occurred to me.fabiostar wrote:I have indeed only the one cable (standard length). iv had no problems with it rubbing the fairing that iv noticed. tho i run mine behind the fork not round the front of it.
