Alternator help

So the bike is in need of an alternator. im not a trusting person when it comes to fleabay so would rather ask you chaps 1st. where would be a good reliable place to buy one as some of the places im finding on tha intranet seem to want to know the size of it 1st, its still in the bike so i obviously dont know the size, any help would be much loved
