Hi from Oz
Hi everyone, great forum. I upgraded from a gs500f to the firestorm (red 2006) a couple of weeks ago. It's hard to truly describe the difference. I now know what a power wheelie is:).
The bike had what was I think referred to as the 'clunk and die'. It would missfire at light throttle with a metallic clunk and if idling would stall.
Having searched this forum and read the advice found in these pages, I have sorted out that with a carb balance.
I have also footed the ape ccts on the advice here using the method from here. Excellent tutorial, and I wouldn't have attempted it without the forum's guide. I have also used the Honda ws manual from here as well.
Bike did have slip on cans (carbs not rejetted) however it seemed to ping (engine vibration at cruise) so went with original cans.
Will look for newly discovered exhaust leak on the weekend using a piece of hose - again, method found on here.
Anyway, back to my exhaust leak.....

Welcome to the mad house dude.
yes plenty of info on here to keep you tinkering away.
Where abouts in Oz are you from, a few lurking on this forum?
good to hear that you sorted out the CCT's, thought that all the prep work would have been done now that you are about to hit the HOT season.

Hi Chris, I read somewhere about using a plastic tube to your ear and the other to the leak. Anyway, I tried it today and it isn't a leak I'm thinking it's the carb slides, but I'll save that saga for another area. Thanks everyone for the welcome.

I must have seen that I'm sure

If you haven't already it might be a good idea to check for any splits in the vacuum hoses,
Chris.

Re: Hi from Oz
Nice part of the world your in.
I'm trying to get up there at the end of the month to see old mates if I can get away from Sydney for a few days.
But 30 degrees + is out of my comfort zone!
