well it all started today with a bit of spanner work , removing the forks and the wheels ,found one of the mudguard bolts had snapped off so it had to be drilled and tapped and then to drain the very old oil out of them , well that when the fun started , first one easy second one no way was it going to move and now i have totally mullerd the top nut so now im in the market for a new one , and its still stuck in

Dishwasher love it, and you have used the wifes jelly mould by the looks of it.
As for the fork cap. Lower the compression and rebound so it's out the way and put a 6pt socket on there. An open ended or 12pt ring spanner is always going to end up doing that as they are really soft. You may get away with filing those nibs off the angles there. Are you intending on removing the cartrige or simply tipping out the oil for a refresh. My callipers where as bad as that the first time I stripped them down. Great job getting that bolt out and re-tapping
Did My Vespa engine cases in the dishwasher also, removed all the hard crud and came our a treat. Wife was also out for the day, never suspected anything apart from noticing I must have used it as the dishwasher as all this clean dishes were put away . Anyway there is a set of link pipes on flebay just now.
Break it, mend it, mod it, thrash it. If it's made then it's bettered by beer and goggles. Me bikes had Kwak ZZR, Suzuki TL1000s, Yama R1, Aprilia RSV. Now have VTR, Honda CB750 hand built brat/trickster, Yama XS750 and wee old Vespa.
so now to start removing the exhaust

you have to wonder why you would make a stainless exhaust clamp and put a ferrous bolt that turns to cheese as soon as it gets wet so i had to cut them off .
but a quick clean with the sander to give it a satin finish in prelude to a mirror polishing the swing arm is also getting a polish or maybe swapped for a vfr800 one as i have one kicking arround

started removing the repair it was well done but i did not like the damaged mesh
so rather than repair it from the back i did a carbon plate from the front in plain site

the hd Paint remover arrived yesterday and this stuff is strong and will burn you unlike nitromores that is piss weak i think it is made that way so it will not hurt any snowflakes that use it
and you know its going to be good when on the the tin it says use outside may be carcinogenic
