Sounds like ur switch is goosed as said above. I usually take it off and strip it and clean it.
Ill check and see if i have a spare in the shed, but they are cheap to get new

Guys generally keep bikes in good condition here and its less yearly expense and hassle getting tested

Welcome aboard, I just had the same problem, got a new pattern switch off the bay of evil for 3 quid, looks identical to me
