It's well known that the Cbr 600 f4i has front calipers and master cylinder that makes for a better VTR
But what about the rear brake?
I use mine all the time and find it more like an on/off switch and it needs far too much force
It's been refurbished and new pads have made a difference, but not enough
Has anyone upgraded the rear caliper/master cylinder on a Vtr?
Better rear brake caliper
Re: Better rear brake caliper
Yes the Storm now known as CJ Storm previously owned by Jonesey has a rear calliper off an SV 650 I believe, no idea if the m/c has been changed tho.
I dont use the rear much but I did try it on the ride home & it was noticably better than the Storm one...
Best if you drop him a PM to find out more info...

Re: Better rear brake caliper
I find my rear brake to be quite good. Strong but with good feel. OEM caliper and MC but it has a braided steel line. Perhaps it's your pads? I'm using Brembo red sintered pads. 07HO36SP. They seem to work very well.

Mine are the same, Ian
Hmm, will have to investigate further

Re: Better rear brake caliper
I find oem caliper with ferodo organic pads ok. Strong enough for low speed handling when commuting, and weak enough not to lock rear wheel when riding harder, as my ability to control brake by shoe is nowhere near to front and two fingers.

Re: Better rear brake caliper
If you want more feel and a longer traveling peddle ,fit a slightly smaller master cylinder .
