This could be interesting

Chris.
Funny you should say that as my wife said exactly the same thing, what with her being a big fan of Guy Martin.

But apart from that, it was enjoyable voyeuristic TV sho nuffbudd wrote: ↑Mon Nov 12, 2018 1:38 pm Given all the work he did and money spent I think they failed to make the most of it, the saying ‘don’t spoil the ship for a ha’porth of tar’ comes to mind, a more through shake down would have revealed the problems they had in Germany and they would have been able to deal with them before they went. The fire was caused by the turbo oil feed pipe either coming loose at the banjo bolt or failing, these pipes are generally braided hose so it's more likely to have come loose, they had a serious brake imbalance again this could have improved/cured with a brake bias valve or better still a better designed brake system, just bolting on big calipers and rotors doesn't work and it showed with the rear locking up etc.
The other thing is they talked about weight loss but didn’t do anything here (and that would have made a massive difference), polyurethane to replace the glass etc and they could have lightened the body quite a lot given they had a full cage providing the structural integrity. And they were also using normal road tyres which aren’t great at track stuff, most tyre makers now do semi slicks for track days I’ve used Toyo’s and Silverstones in the past and they really do make a huge difference.
Now don’t get me wrong I really enjoyed the programme and I’m sure I’m not alone in wishing I had the opportunity/money/time etc to undertake a similar project, when I used to race and rally cars back in the day I loved the prep process so it seems to me much as I admire Guy Martin and his projects I can’t help thinking this one could have been so much better with only a few relatively minor changes and bit better attention to detail.
