Valve clearances
Valve clearances
Hello, just checked valve clearances on rear cylinder , Exhaust 11”. and 12” . Inlet 5” and 6”, So fairly close to spec, is it worth checking the front cylinder ? Bike has done 32000, as far as I know this is the first check. Its cold in the garage and the beer is calling me . Happy christmas everyone ,

Re: Valve clearances
Interesting that they don't give a tolerance in the manual, or have I missed it?

Re: Valve clearances
You mean Haynes?
See 1.2 specifications.
Inlet 0.13 to 0.19
Exhaust 0.28 to 0.34
Metric.
Eamon, are you measuring in thou?

It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

The 1st number you see is the "specification" the perfect clearance, the next numbers are the range allowed.
In that chart 1st set of numbers is metric 2nd set ( SAE) )

Re: Valve clearances
Yeah , exhaust 12 thou and inlet 6 thou, when I was an apprentice that was normal . After 30, 000 miles I was surprised they were so close to spec .

Re: Valve clearances
Is that a factory manual or an after market?
I have three different factory manuals all are the same with the spec and tolerance
