Top box
Top box
I’m ashamed to say I am going to fit a top box in the next week or two.
Clearly not fashionable as I do not think I’ve seen a single pic on here with one fitted
They seem few and far between too. Found a GIVI rack n box on eBay and that’s about it, an even that is in Germany.
I suppose it’s because the VTR is now getting on I guess.
Not cheap either at £260.
Kind of wondering if there are actually any options out there, or is it just GIVI.
If I’m going fit one then I think it needs to be of reasonable quality and robust.
So would be interested if any one knows of any other options and availability

Here's what's possible with a bit of work

I think Givi is the way to go but it requires a few modifications. You can easily put a Renntec rack on but that is a bit light weigh and not really strong enough to hold a top box.

260 quid seems a lot. The givi rack can be bought for 62 quid on sports bike shop site. I bought one yesterday.
Then just get a plate and box separately maybe? I've both here as they were on the vfr. I'd imagine you should come we'll under 260
If you don't try you never know if you can do it.

Re: Top box
Yeh, £260 on the steep side.
If just getting the box keep a look out for a set of arms and plate, then you can fit most alternatives to it.

Don't hassle me
I'll get there at some time

Yes I looked at the racks too. Top boxes tend to be a bit weak on them too.
I got used to having paneers on my st 1050 and knew I would miss them.
Just a case of being able pull stuff on or off. Your never wearing the right gear for the whole day
Re: Top box
No, that was the whole thing. Rack plate and box. There is a bit cheaper on there but I kinda chose a bigger box.grumpyfrog wrote: ↑Sun Jun 30, 2019 2:01 pm Yeh, £260 on the steep side.

Price seems about average from what I’ve seen so far.
Seems options are not that great lol. Other than pick yer box.
It crossed my mind if your not paying for the name, but since I’ve failed to find any other brand it looks like it will have to be givi
I would have liked panniers but deffo too expensive

Re: Top box
Just the scooter apron and you're set up for pizza delivery.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
Re: Top box
As long as just deliver to folk that live on twisty country roads I would not mind lol.
Oh .... and must be good weather or they are going hungry lol
Naaah... sod it... I would just eat em... won’t work
Re: Top box
Went out first time with the top box fitted.
My main concern was it making a difference to the handling with wind drag ect.
The effect is surprisingly slight. I could feel it but only just. I only reached speeds of about 90 so the difference could be more at faster rates. To all intents and purpose you can forget it’s there.
Wore my leathers with sweat shirt and a light coat as I set off, nice n early.
Not too warm at 5.30 am. Had placed my thinner gloves in the box.
By early afternoon it got rather hot. Changed gloves and removed sweat shirt and leather liner and the light jacket !
Bliss
Verdict.... great box and great decision to fit one

I can see the benefits in that sense. The main thing is you're happy with itthelens wrote: ↑Mon Jul 15, 2019 8:15 pm Went out first time with the top box fitted.
