I know there’s plenty on here about the issues of them and how to fix them etc, but when I was carrying my tank to shed, my hose from valve started leaking fuel. Now assuming the valve is stuck open, should I be bothered to take it all apart?
Bearing in mind I have a fuel pump so gravity flooding of the carbs is unlikely.
Thoughts please?
Vacuum Valve
Re: Vacuum Valve
The fuel shut off is a separate bit from the vacuum diaphragm.
The shutoff is a kind of barrel shaped bit the rotates and blocks the fuel flow before it gets to the rubber diaphragm.
So while it shouldn't have a bearing on how the bike runs, personally I would open it up to see if something is stuck in there

Loud pipes don't save lives, knowing how to ride your bike will save your life.
Re: Vacuum Valve
I had problems when using a fuel pump, as the "suction" of the pump sucked the valve closed. This caused lots of rebuilding on the way to a Storm meet one time....
I fixed it by blocking the valve open by stuffing a screwed-up paperclip in the way..... A temporary fix that just somehow stayed there for ages.

It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
