Finally arrived yesterday!
Here she is! My '97 VTR.
(if the pics upload... Might imgur it)
But now the questions... Anyone in Hampshire got the know-how to fit MCCTs and willing to do it for me (ill pay Ofc) or help me to do it?
Also, has anyone installed PAIRS blanking plates? Seen it removes the popping an aftermarket exhaust causes, but on the fence about doing it.

Good to hear you've finally got the beast

Re: Finally arrived yesterday!
Id be happy to help/oversee the CCT swap but I'm in Kent...
Unless your bike is a non UK import* 97 bikes dont have PAIRS on them...
It is a silly US thing that we didn't get until the F2 upgrade which strangely the US never got...
Also it's not just a case of just fitting the blanking plates, theres a bit more to removing the PAIRS gubbins than that...
Popping & banging on the overun...check all the joints in the exhaust system as an air leak will cause the same thing...
* Maybe its an Austrailain bike judging by the second pic...

Re: Finally arrived yesterday!
Think it's because I posted from my mobile, flipped my images around haha!
Good to know on the pairs, maybe it just needs a bit of a tune. I am thinking about replacing the cans though.
Kent is a bit of a ride for me but thank you for the offer! I'm sure I could do it myself but it'll take 5 times longer than it should

Re: Finally arrived yesterday!
Tidy looking bike.leave the popping and banging alone.

SO WHEN DOES THIS OLD ENOUGH TO KNOW BETTER KICK IN
Re: Finally arrived yesterday!
Stripping it all down to do the job is the longest part... Just make sure A/ the inspection caps come off. B/ you set the timing marrks correctly.Rhughes945 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 30, 2019 12:12 pm Think it's because I posted from my mobile, flipped my images around haha!

Have a good read, several times, before you pick any spanners up... viewtopic.php?f=31&t=28583#p264315
Top tip...get some Plus Gas for your rusty nuts...1000x better than WD40.
Top Tip 2... use a decent allen bit that is a nice tight fit in the inspection cap, they are very soft & if tight can chew up really easily. Best buy a spare as if it's already been mullered you'll be hammering it off.

Re: Finally arrived yesterday!
Took her out for a few miles just now, struggled to start.
Choke isn't staying out, clip broken?
Indicators are quite iffy, had to push hard to get them to turn on. Maybe I'll take the switchgear apart later.
Occasionally it sort of coughs, and it feels like something has hit it, but carries on anyway.
Other than that, omg.
Headlight may have already been modded, I could definitely see the road in front of me, and hi-beams are perfect!
Compared to my old 600 I'm quite literally in heaven on this thing.

Re: Finally arrived yesterday!
The cough is a carb fart.Perfectly normal but turn the idle up to about 1200 revs so it doesn't stall at lights etc.Put a clothes peg on the choke to hold it out till you can fix it.

I did wonder if it was normal, I'm used to a four, everything is different on a twin.

It was confusing Mac, he thought you were posting from Australia, or something like that

Your new bike should be good with a bit of fettling

You've realised Yella is the worst colour...
Or the CCT has let go...
Or the R/R has failed...
