I had a look at the wiring diagram (thanks guys) for the stand/clutch switch circuit and while doing some parts sourcing I managed to find a brand new clutch switch from Honda for $25.00.
Pick it up tomorrow so I'll let you know if anything changes. I have a feeling it won't have any effect on fixing the issue but for the price it's not a bad investment I guess!

Humm if the issue is still around after the clutch/side-stand switch checks. There could be an intermittent fault on the pcb board behind the clocks and or temp sensor, I'm not sure what happens when the F2 and on models do when they reach critical temp which I believe is 120 degrees.
I very much doubt you will be hitting 120 degrees as you would know about it cause everything would be roasting hot. As said not sure what happens when this situation is met maybe someone here knows more.

Sorry realise this is an old thread but does anyone know (or kjom71 if you're out there) if kjom found the answer to this problem?
I'm having a very similar issue.
I've run all the tests the manual lists, changed the reg, coils, new ignition pulse generator, battery, replaced all the vaccum lines, checked and serviced the carbies and as soon as the bike reaches 75 degrees it starts to miss and cut out at idle.
It's driving me nuts.

Yes of course. Also new air filter and yes it mcct, no not recently fitted.
Thought it might be the side stand switch so bypassed that, still happens.

What idle speed are you running?
Around 1200 is best.
Other than that, a blocked idle circuit on one of the carbs is likely.

Idle is set at 1300, both idle jets were replaced with brand new 48s 18 months ago. At the same time it got new diaphrams, o-rings, main jets
Rechecked TPS, rebalanced the carbs, it's not fuel or vaccum.

48 jets are the pilot circuit, not the idle jet.
OK, check for intake air leaks, make sure the vacuum lines aren't perished at the ends and carbs are seated properly in the rubber mounts.

Just so people don't die wondering, it looks like it was the side stand switch.
The bike has aftermarket headers on it and as I said the miss/cutting out happened once it reached a certain temperature.
Anyway bypass the switch and it's fine now.
Got to love intermittent electrical faults.
