Hi everyone, not sure if I’m paranoid but I’ve just fitted new chain and sprockets to my VTR I’ve adjusted the chain to the correct tension, but when I spin my rear wheel by hand it feels tight. I’ve checked the front but that also doesn’t spin freely. I would take it for a ride out but with all the restrictions at the moment I haven’t.
Cheers in advance..

How recently have you checked your bearings? Could be your axles are a bit dirty?
Brake pads not wearing at all?

Re: Fitted new chain and sorockets
I’m not sure if the rear brake is binding where I tightened the front sprocket up. The bearings were greased along with the axle when I put it back together. I’m sure there should be a bit of resistance when spinning the wheel I think I’m just paranoid...
Re: Fitted new chain and sorockets
Simple enough to check, remove one brake caliper at a time and see if the wheel now spins freely.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
Re: Fitted new chain and sorockets
Just a update, I took the rear brake calliper off and the rear wheel spins more freely, I guessing it’s just resistance when the brake pads touch the disc.
Hopefully we can get out soon without the trip being necessary

So pump out the pistons- not fully- and clean them, apply a smear of red rubber grease and reassemble.

Re: Fitted new chain and sorockets
It's possible you have left the sprocket carrier spacer out, this will cause the wheel to bind, it's the spacer that goes between the sprocket carrier and the wheel so is inside, it can fall out of the inside of the carrier when you take it off the wheel.

Re: Fitted new chain and sorockets
Yeah I checked that. The wheel spins freely without the rear brake fitted, so I’m guessing it’s as Tony above said with regards to the pistons in the calliper. I’m going to strip it down today.
Re: Fitted new chain and sorockets
Check the seal recesses are free of corrosion, if oxide corrosion builds up it pushes out the seals leading to sticky pistons - Also check the slider pins and sleeves
