Spinning flaring fixing

Gents, can anyone advise how I can remove spinning flaring bolt? It's a fixing on the rear flaring. I can't find anything to jam and stop it from spinning.

I would like to help you out, but I'm a bit thick so I have to be sure exactly what you're problem is.
I've taken a picture of the bolts I think are the issue - I know I've had issues with them earlier
What I did was to add a few drops of superglue to the threaded bushing - don't glue the fairing panel to the frame now - and then gave it a go with the hex wrench mounted in the power drill to give it a bit of shock treatment.
It did'nt work out the first time, but after a few tries the bolts came loose
I then fitted new bushings before I put the panels back on.

They are rivet nuts which have been known to spin free like yours. This is what they look like:-



I like the superglue tip

When they are fitted they are compressed with a specialised tool so they can't spin in the drilled hole, the serrations help to stop it spinning,

I don't remember the size off the top of my head, but if you measure the diameter of the bolt that will give you the size rivnut you require. I would be thinking it'll be 8mm in diameter, but you need to check.

Even once you know the size you'll still need the specialist tool to fit it as I mentioned in my post above.



If you do end up fitting one yourself, or getting your local garage to do it for you, a good tip a friend of mine gave me was to apply some superglue on the rivnet when fitting, just to give it that little extra help,

It sounds like the frame metal has expanded.
If i was going to use some glue I would use a metal rapid weld as opposed to super glue, it will last much longer and be stronger.

Before doing that, you may be able to fix the ones you have without buying a special tool.

Once you have the fairing bolts, out get a nut and bolt of the right size, spin the nut onto the bolt up to the head and then screw the bolt into the rivnut so it just sticks out the other side of the tread.
Now get a couple of big spanners, one to hold the bolt head still and the other to tighten up the nut.
Tightening up the nut will cause the rivnut head to expand back into the frame and hopefully fix your problem.
I've done it before and it does work most of the time. It depends on how tuff the Rivnuts are to be honest but it might be worth a go
