IIRC you should be looking at more like 14 + V when running...

RR getting hot is normal it's part of how the electrickery does it's voodoo...

However if its uncomfortably hot to touch then it would appear you have an issue with that RR...

I don't think it should be hot enough that it's not just 'a bit warm'

I'd say it's uncomfortably hot if you hold your finger on it for 10 seconds. Another perculiar feature, it seems the voltage at idle is 13.6v and it then goes down to 13.3v as the rpm climbs. That can't be right, surely?

The old rr used to idle at 12.5v and stop at 14.v as the rpm increased.

It may be you have inadventaly bought a duff one... I'd be sending it back & asking for a refund... Then buy a Mosfet...

Seems a bit rich, asking for a refund on a CBR125 RR, that doesn't work on a VTR1000

I personally think you should be seeing a higher voltage at tick-over. With a MOSFET rectifier fitted to my Firestorm I have 14.4 volts showing at tick-over at the battery, that's with no lights switched on,

Promise this is the last question, and potentially, the dumbest.

I got an R/R from Wemoto that states 'uses Mosfet technology'. Good enough for me. Anyway, I've plonked it on and was just curious as to whether, what I assume is the Earth, is on correctly, or whether, in-fact, it matters that much at all. Since my garage is a mile away and I forgot to take a photo, here is a diagram, ok, a sh*t diagram, of what I'm trying to explain.

Is it absolutely fine to have the Earth attached tightly through one of the R/R bolt holes?
