I read that there is a bit of commonality between a vfr800 fork and vtr1000f front forks for the year period.
So will Andreani Fork cartridges fit a 2005 vtr1000 Firestorm.
I can't find anything that isn't ridiculously expensive and I have used Andreani fork cartridges on a Ducati 900ss and been happy.
If I was in the UK there is lots of high end suspension manufacture's, Maxton etc. but in rural Australia that's not the case.
VFR800 fork cartridges?
Re: VFR800 fork cartridges?
Diameter is probably ok, but Storm forks are quite long compared to, say, blade forks, so check the length.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
Re: VFR800 fork cartridges?
There are people that have used Storm lowers on VFR800 tubes and internals, this is so they get de linked brakes.. The model is the FI version 1998-2001 the one before the v tec model was made.
If you do the same mod with the Adriani internals using hybrid VFR/Firestorm parts then it should all fit in a storm ok, if the forks are longer pull them up through the yokes. Probably best to check the VFR forums for details and measurement to see if it's viable to do..
Failing that there must be suspensions specialists in Aus you could send your standard forks to.
Failing that just fit some linear springs for your weight, add 10wt oil and a 140mm airgap and the bike will be spot on for most peoples usage.

Re: VFR800 fork cartridges?
I have used VTR1000F fork parts interchangeably with VFR800 bits, the cartridges etc are all the same dimensions. The key to the extended fork length is the placement of the top-out spring on the outside of the cartridge, and the length of the fork tube. My recollection is that the VFR and VTR have the top-out spring in the same place, and the VFR uses longer fork tubes to end up with a longer fork. Do the Andreani cartridges have external or internal top-out springs?

There is a piston kit for VTR available, with suggested Ohlins springs and correct fork oil results are excellent. Only downside is that the assembly instructions are only an excel sheet containing sizes of shims and their placement. Shims were supposed to be laid in a correct order on the pistons but mine were not. It took me a while to set them but it was worth it.

Re: VFR800 fork cartridges?
I had seen those advertised and wondered if that mod was worth chasing rather than a complete cartridge replacement?
Plus the cost is a lot less.
I'm in the process of upgrading the front brakes to cbr954 calipers and the forks will be next.
Thanks for all the replies and advice, it's good to have advice from people who have done mods/upgrades.

Another bit that really improves the stock front end is a fork brace.
