Clutch lever push rod

Hi
After my bike hit the ground, the clutch lever was bent back. So I bought a matching clutch lever/brake lever combo off ebay.

All fits well, but I'm getting a new clutch master cylinder push rod assembly as the old ones have major wear.

My question is this - is there meant to be some sort of o-ring in the grooved part of the push rod? My old one seems to have something there. It could even be part of that rubber boot as shown in the ebay listing photo. I will check again tomorrow.

Why that grooved bit then? Does that boot fit into that groove?

I dunno...Ask Honda.

Gonna be taking a clutch lever off a bit later today, I'll have a look & report back...

Yes, I think so. I've just taken the clutch lever off to inspect and that rubber boots seems to fit it.

Correct, the boot does indeed fit in that groove.

Although that boot is knackered.
