hi everyone
hi everyone
hi,new member,matt,48yrs young from chesterfield,derbyshire.
picked up my 1st ever firestorm just at the start of winter so i havent even ridden the old girl yet.
shes a red 1998 vintage with 20k on the clock and a nicepair of loud race cans fitted (unsure of the make)
ive had many many bikes,in all different styles since i passed my test 27yrs ago.
recent events with covid etc meant i had to sell my 1200 bandit and zx12r
and for the first time since getting my lisence,i was bikeless depressed and lost.
last september i picked up a cheap vfr800fi,nice bike, but im a big lad and 800cc just wasnt cutting it,
and as ive long been a twin fan,i sold it and pounced on a bargain vtr.
ive always had rsv milles in the v twin camp, ive had 5 milles and 1 tuono,
but always strangely lusted after a storm.
i thought my mille sounded like thunder with a mivv gp race can on,
but heard a storm and a neighbours sp-1 (my dream bike) and they made my mille sound quiet
ive been looking through the site for a while, learning bits and bobs, and thought it best i registered.
looking forward to nicer weather and bonding with my new beasty, seems bloody ages since i last rode before winter.
cheers everyone.matt

Re: hi everyone
Welcome.
The VTR will be a lot more relaxed a ride compared to your previous Aprilias (I've had two Falco's in the past). The one thing you wont have to worry about with the VTR is the Ethanol content in moderl fuel swelling the plastic tank unlike the Aprilias.

Heya Welcome to the forums
Re: hi everyone
thanks for the warm welcome everyone.
a cracking forum you have here.
i hear you buddy with the swelling aprillia tanks and bubbling,
and also having to uprate all the charging system etc to help the sprag clutch.
nice bikes, specialy my last mille R with the o.z wheels and ohlins/carbon everywhere etc but they can be fussy buggers,
give me a honda any day.
love the vtr and for the money, its a fantastic bike and alot of bang for your buck.
few bits id like to do,sort some lower fairings,a tinted screen maybe and poss some white gel front and side protectors
just to break up the red a little.
shes got the polished outer rims, which i like,i like a bit of polishing (from my 1200 bandit days)
its got the exhausts changed already, unsure what make, and the last owner stuck akra stickers on them
i know twins dont usualy like carbon cans,
but they look great and sound even better.
id made my mind up to buy as soon as the seller fired it up and it nearly shook his estate to the ground lol.
the bike was covered in stickers when i got it,previous owner was a motorcrosser,
they do like a sticker,them boys,lol.
so 1st job was gently getting all those off.
ive only got the advert pics of it so far,as shes not been out the garage since i bought her.
