its only the four bolts that hold the fairing onto the frame brackets its a bit of a mystery to me i looked on fowlers schematics and they show like you said mac 4 normal bolts.
it must be an add on worth maybe 10 bhp
i have not seen them advertised on ebay

the standard Honda bolt should have a shoulder built in to ensure you cant crush the fairing plastic, so it might be that a previous owner has fitted standard bolts and hence fitted a plastic spacer to provide the function of the sholder.

no they are like frame sliders but small they are black and bonded to the bolt

Mine are the shouldered bolts as Al stated and mines an F3 same as yours.

It's come to me now. I think you are talking about some mini sliders which are round (probably about 15mm or so in diameter at the outside) but are stepped down in diameter where they sit in the fairing recesses for the screws that hold the fairing side panels in place. They probably protrude about 10mm to 15mm away from the fairing, and yes they were black.

They used to be for sale on Ebay, if this is what I think they are I think the idea is to protect the fairing should the bike tumble over at stand-still, I can't see them giving much protection to the fairing if bike hits the tarmac when moving. They fitted Firestorms of all years and were aftermarket products, not OEM from Honda,

I have been trying to find a bike with them fitted (photo/picture) but no luck so far, plus they don't seem to be for sale on Ebay anymore either.

Think of the weight you're going to be saving by removing them
