I done the compression testing that long ago now that I can't remember whether I'd to put a booster on it or not. I do know I got very close to book spec.

With regards to MCCT - yeah, fitted them about 6 years ago. Bike was bought with smashed valves, so I hope to avoid repeating it!

I've cleaned up the earth point & bolt. Multimeter shows negligible resistance across the earth lead, but thinking that maybe I bridge straight to a different part of the engine with a jump lead to see if there's any difference.

What about the different starter motor you tried was it definitely a known good one?
I have come across a starter motor for the Storm which was having starting problems, it turned out to be the insulator for the main live bolt was broken, it appeared to be broken from the terminal bolt turning when tightening the nuts on it. The insulator sits inside the s/motor,

Update on this one...

The bike is MOT'd and roadworthy. Still a pain to get started, but when it's going, it's going.

It starts to bog down under load about 5000rpm, seemingly regardless of gear/speed.

Following the feedback of this forum, I've double checked the timing, regarding it being 180 degrees out - it isn't 1 & 1/4 between the two TDCs.

I guess my two options now are carb turning and some form of electrical loss.

Anyone who's got a clue, anywhere near Glasgow?

Thanks in advance

Craig

Do you know the existing carb setup? Is everything standard?

Has anyone mentioned coils? I had the coils on my GSXR go bad and it misfired at higher revs and was a pig to start.
You could just bypass the testing a fit stick coils anyway.
