Blackbird CBR1000XX side stand mod

Post by Harveyz »

Hi folk's - my Firestorm has the Blackbird side stand mod - it has a WP shock which raises rear ride height - done by previous owner. The spring on the side stand is really weak - it doesn't have that reassuring snap back of every other bike I've owned. Is this typical of this mod or have I just got a weak spring - thought I'd ask before shelling out £10 for a new one . cheers

It may just need a clean and lube at the pivot bolt especially if the bike isn't used that often and/or kept outdoors,

I've done the BB stand on loads of me bikes, never had an issue with the spring, either the one that was on the bike if swapped over or the one that came with the BB Stand.

They are pretty tough springs so cant see it getting stretched, maybe it a slightly longer one of a different bike.
Making up since 2007, sometimes it's true...Honest...

Thanks for confirming - wasn't sure if it was a trade off of the mod - longer side stand with weaker spring - as it came with the bike I'm not sure if it's the correct spring. - just ordered one from Fowlers - might be £7.62 well spent
